Identity Politics and Racism

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - An Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa is being accused of racism after publishing an academic paper titled "Teaching to deconstruct whiteness in higher education."
Jodi Linley published the article earlier this month writing she works to "dismantle whiteness" in her curriculum....
Linley writes about personal experiences such as growing up in mostly white rural Iowa and then going to college where she journaled about how she "could now see white supremacy benefiting me as a white person and other white people around me."
Later in the article Linley writes about grouping students off by race when teaching saying it's a "welcomed relief" for students of color to be able to talk about racism "without defensive reactions from white peers."
As for white students she says the groups help reveal "their own white ignorance."
Of course, like the idiot who wrote about the eclipse skipping most blacks, she is so pasty white as to make me and my daughter look like people of color.  Encouraging everyone to see themselves by race just encourages neo-Nazis to promote white identity.  Race is the one thing you have no influence over at all.  Any pride you have about your race is a statement of your own inadequacy.

White privilege: a projection mechanism for people like Linley.  I did not feel it growing up.  Admittedly, it was a racially mixed neighborhood.  I guess my white privilege was parents who read and regarded education as important.

8/16/17 Leo includes a list of demands from a Black Lives Matter leader:
1. White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty.
2. White people, if you’re inheriting property you intend to sell upon acceptance, give it to a black or brown family. You’re bound to make that money in some other white privileged way.
