Why Rising Temperatures Precede Carbon Dioxide Increases

I can't sleep. It has been observed that over tens of thousands of years, CO2 concentrations sometimes follow temperature increases:

Why? Solubility of gases declines as water temperature increases. Rising ocean temperatures would drive dissolved CO2 into the air.

  1. I thought that the CO2 came from decaying vegetable matter and the warmer the temps, the more veggies there were to decay. CO2 in water is absorbed by organisms that use it to make shells, which fall to the bottom when they die.

Who knows. I could be wrong.

  2. Decaying organic carbon is carbon-neutral be cause it goes back into animals.

While much CO2 ends up as calcium carbonate in sea and bird shells, far more is converted to limestone in the ocean's depths.
